How to migrate from Manager.io to Celerp
Manager has no file export for your lists and reports. You do not need one: Celerp reads Manager's own backup file.
Back up your business in Manager
In Manager, open the Businesses tab, click your business name, then click Backup. Manager saves a .manager file named after your business.
Upload it to Celerp
Install Celerp, choose Move a company, pick Manager as your current system and upload the .manager file.
See what comes across
Before anything is imported, Celerp lists every kind of record in your file and shows what comes across, what comes across in part, and what it cannot bring over yet.
Choose full history or a cutover date
Full history recreates every transaction. Cutover starts from a date you choose: balances on that date become opening balances, and open invoices, bills and stock are recreated.
Check the results
Celerp compares its totals with the totals in your file and shows any difference. Download the reconciliation pack for your records or your accountant.
Your Manager business stays as it is. Celerp only reads the backup file, so you can keep working in Manager until you are happy with the result.
What moves from Manager.io
Celerp shows this for your own file before you import anything.
Comes across
Chart of accounts, customers and suppliers, sales and purchase invoices, credit and debit notes, receipts and payments, bank and cash accounts, transfers, journal entries, inventory items and stock, tax codes, currencies, and attachments on contacts, documents and items.
Checked against your file
Trial balance, customer and supplier balances, bank and cash, stock quantity and value, tax, and document counts and totals. Each is compared with the figures in your Manager file.
Listed, not moved
Quotes, orders, delivery notes, goods receipts, recurring templates, employees, projects, divisions, inventory locations and forecasts. They do not affect your balances, so Celerp lists them for you to recreate if you need them.
Not supported yet
Fixed assets and depreciation, payroll, expense claims, production orders, investments, capital accounts, and starting balances entered in Manager. If your file has any of these, Celerp tells you before anything is imported, and the move waits until they are supported.
Where Manager.io stops short
Manager.io is a solid free ledger. Here is where teams tend to outgrow it.
A closed, single-developer product
Manager.io is proprietary, shipped as binaries you cannot read or change, and built by essentially a single developer, so every fix and feature waits in one person's queue. Celerp is developed in the open on GitHub with a module marketplace, so anyone can extend it.
Manufacturing stops at one output
A Manager.io production order builds a single finished item with no sub-assemblies, so multi-stage or multi-output work means splitting everything into separate orders. Celerp handles multi-level BOMs, demand planning, and a production board out of the box.
No built-in AI
Every report, entry, and reconciliation in Manager.io is manual. Celerp can draft reports from plain language and speed up reconciliation and routine entry for you.
Teamwork is a paid add-on
Manager.io's free desktop edition has no logins at all, so user accounts, roles, and permissions only arrive with its paid Server or Cloud edition. Celerp puts sub-user accounts and customizable role permissions in the free app.

Frequently asked questions
Can I migrate from Manager.io to Celerp?
Yes. Back up your business in Manager to get a .manager file, then choose Move a company in Celerp and upload it. Celerp imports your accounts, contacts, invoices, bills, payments, stock and attachments, then compares its totals with your Manager figures. You can bring the full history or start from a cutover date with opening balances.
How do I export my data from Manager.io?
Manager has no file export for its lists and reports: it copies them to your clipboard as text. To move to Celerp you do not need to export anything. Manager's backup file (Businesses tab, click your business, then Backup) already holds your records and attachments, and Celerp reads it directly.
Do I have to re-enter my history, or only closing balances?
Neither. Full history brings every transaction across, so your past reports still work in Celerp. If you prefer a fresh start, choose a cutover date: balances on that date become opening balances, and only open invoices, bills and stock are recreated.
What if my Manager backup is from an old version?
Backups from old versions of Manager use a format Celerp cannot read. Open the file in a current version of Manager, back it up again, and upload the new file.
Can I use a cutover date if I have foreign currency balances?
Not yet. A business with balances in foreign currencies moves with Full history for now.
Is Manager.io open source?
No. Manager.io is proprietary software from NGSoftware, built by essentially a single developer, and its public GitHub repository hosts compiled downloads only, with no source code and no open-source license. Celerp is developed in the open: the code is on GitHub (a source-available core plus open-source MIT modules) with a module marketplace, so you can read, audit, and extend what you run.
Is Celerp really free?
Yes. The desktop app is free and developed in the open. You only pay if you add the optional Connect tier for sync and AI.
Does Celerp do the same accounting as Manager.io?
Yes. Celerp is real double-entry accounting: chart of accounts, journal entries, bank reconciliation, tax handling, and the standard financial statements, plus inventory with multiple valuation methods, downloadable CSV export, a module marketplace, and built-in AI.
What does the AI actually do?
Celerp's AI can draft reports from a plain-language request, input bills from pictures, reconcile transactions - most of the things that a human can do. It is part of the optional Connect and AI tiers, which can be upgraded to from inside the desktop app. Manager.io has no AI features.
How fast can I get started and work day to day?
Celerp ships starter presets for a range of industries - fashion, food and beverage, electronics, and more - that switch on the right modules and product fields for your trade, so you are not configuring from a blank slate. Bring your existing customers, suppliers, items, and chart of accounts in bulk with CSV import. Day to day, you edit invoice and order lines inline on the page: click a value, change it, done - with no popups and no page reloads.
Is Celerp's manufacturing strong enough for real production?
Yes. Celerp ships a working manufacturing suite with three screens. Demand Planning scans every open order and build request, nets what you need against on-hand stock and in-progress runs, flags each order as covered, partial, or short, and estimates cost and labor hours per product. Work In Progress is a production board where you issue components (consuming inventory) and receive finished goods (producing inventory) through a full planned, in-progress, and completed lifecycle with bulk shop-floor actions. Stock Orders handles internal build-for-stock demand. Recipes carry multi-level BOMs with cost roll-up and where-used, and work centers hold capacity and labor rates. A Manager.io production order builds a single finished item with no sub-assemblies.
Can my team use it?
Yes. Celerp has real sub-user accounts with roles and customizable role permissions built into the free app - the owner adjusts exactly what each role can access from a permission matrix, and every person gets their own login. The free desktop app runs one active session at a time; for simultaneous access, the Connect tier at $29/mo opens concurrent logins. Manager.io's free desktop edition has no user accounts or login at all, so multi-user needs its paid Server or Cloud edition.
Can I build my own features?
Yes. Every feature in Celerp is a module - a plain Python package you drop in a folder, and Celerp wires up its database tables, API, and screens with no build step. Start from the open module template, or point an AI coding agent like Claude Code at it: describe the functionality you want, let it write the module, and import it. Manager.io ships as closed binaries with no module system, so you cannot add your own features at all.
